London Fog
London Fog is an Earl Grey tea latte. It’s made with Earl Grey tea, milk, vanilla, and sugar.
The drink must be made with Earl Grey tea, no other kind of tea, to be called a London Fog. Earl Grey is a flavored black tea with citrus notes from the bergamot fruit.
London Fog drinks contain caffeine since there’s black tea in Earl Grey.
At Starbucks, they have a hot and iced London Fog but not a London Fog Frappuccino. This recipe is my creation, using the same Earl Grey tea they use.

Ingredient Notes
- Homemade Frappuccino base syrup: The Frappuccino base syrup is key to making Frappuccinos smooth, just like Starbucks. Make a batch of this first.
- Earl Grey tea: Starbucks makes their London Fog drinks with Earl Grey tea by Teavana that has vanilla and lavender notes but you can use any Earl Grey tea brand you like.
- Water: Use filtered water if possible. Water can be heated on the stovetop or using an electric kettle.
- Milk: Any kind of milk can be used but whole milk will make the drink creamier. Starbucks uses 2% milk in their Frappuccinos.
- Sweetened condensed milk: Instead of sugar, the Frappuccino is sweetened with sweetened condensed milk.
- Ice: Smaller ice cubes blends quicker and easier. Make ice using filtered water if possible.
- Heavy cream: This is to make the whipped cream topping.

Step-by-Step Instructions
- Put Earl Grey tea sachets and hot water into a teapot. Cover and steep.
Boil water on the stovetop or use anelectric kettle with a temperature setting.For best results, make tea ahead of time and chill in the refrigerator. - Whisk heavy cream and sweetened condensed milk to make whipped cream. Set aside.
Use ahandheld milk frotherto make whipped cream in seconds. Whip until soft peaks form. - Blend tea, sweetened condensed milk, milk, ice, and homemade Frappuccino base syrup until smooth.
- Pour Frappuccino into a cup and top with whipped cream.

Expert Tips
- A blender tamper is useful when making Frappuccinos. The texture comes out super smooth.
- No need to use high quality loose tea when making Frappuccinos since the tea will be used with other ingredients. Stick with tea sachets and tea bags.
- Don’t put ice into the blender first. Put liquids in first, then ice.
- To make the homemade whipped cream, use a handheld milk frother to whisk the heavy cream and sweetened condensed milk for 30-50 seconds. The longer you whisk the heavy cream, the stiffer it’ll get. Spoon the whipped cream on top of your drink.

I only have Earl Grey loose tea, how much should I use?
Instead of using 2 Earl Grey tea sachets, use 2 tablespoons of loose Earl Grey tea.
Is there caffeine in this drink?
Yes, there’s black tea in Earl Grey, which contains caffeine.
If I want a super strong Earl Grey taste should I steep the tea for longer than 5 minutes?
Instead of steeping tea for longer, use an extra tea bag or sachet to the recipe if you want a stronger Earl Grey flavor. Steeping it for longer will just make the tea taste bitter.

INGREDIENTS
London Fog Frappuccino
- ½ cup hot water
- 2 Earl Grey tea sachets
- ⅓ cup milk
- 1 tablespoon sweetened condensed milk
- 1 cup ice
- 3 tablespoons homemade Frappuccino base syrup
Whipped Cream
- ¼ cup heavy cream
- ½ tablespoon sweetened condensed milk
INSTRUCTIONS
Put Earl Grey tea sachets and hot water into a teapot. Cover and steep for 5 minutes.
Boil water on the stovetop or use anelectric kettle with a temperature setting. If you’re boiling water on the stovetop, turn off the heat as soon as it starts to simmer.
Discard tea sachet after steep. For best results, make tea ahead of time and chill in the refrigerator.
Whisk heavy cream and sweetened condensed milk to make whipped cream. Set aside.
Use ahandheld milk frotherto make whipped cream in seconds. Whip until soft peaks form.
